12 Sep September’s Repair & Upcycling Drop In – “The staff are simply wonderful!”
On Tuesday 10th September FEL’s shop – FC Designer Collective on Fonthill Road, London N4, held its monthly Repair and Upcycle drop-in workshop. Kindly supported by Islington Council, the aim of this workshop is to welcome the general public with their personal clothing repairs or projects and support with expert advice and industry equipment.
For September’s session it was great to see participants working on secondhand garments, adjusting the fit to maintain the lifespan of the garment. The workshop is open to all irrespective of sewing / clothes making experience and the FEL team are keen to encourage sewing and repairs as a key life skill.
Feedback from the 10 participants was excellent, with many asking for more future dates.
Feedback included:
“The staff are simply wonderful!”
“Very nice, friendly environment, helping us a lot to finalise a project. Exactly what I need to stay motivated, working with a group and being monitored with good advice.”
“Emanuella was very helpful and engaging. Thanks for the workshop.”
“It was great. I was able to fix up my dress which I already bought secondhand. I learned quite a bit, and even got to use a machine for the first time. It was super helpful to get someone to look at my work.”
“Excellent, it was my first time using the workshop. I will be back.”
“Awesome, will recommend to others.”
