Repair & Upcycle Workshop February – “The workshop was amazing!”

Coinciding with the start of London Fashion Week the FC Designer Workspace held its monthly drop in Repair and Upcycle workshop.

The Workspace for this February edition was brimming with creativity with all kinds of projects underway, from making a bag out of knitwear to creating a fabric insert for a skirt.

These sessions are all about using existing fabrics and wardrobe items, bringing them back to life so they can be worn again.

Around 360,000 tonnes of clothing textiles are thrown away in the UK every year, with the average item of clothing being worn 10 times before being discarded. Being able to sew and adapt existing items keeps clothing in circulation for longer and readdresses wasteful shopping habits.

Feedback from this informal workshop included:

“The workshop was amazing! So, so, helpful and the staff are very friendly and knowledgable.”

“I learnt how to make something out of scrap and use different machines. It was really fun, great people, really friendly, I learned a lot, thank-you.”

“I learned how to turn a dress into a top. The workshop was lovely and helped with creativity.”

“Very fun and informative session. Thank-you so much.”

Next month FC Designer Workspace will be taking part in London Repair Week from the 20th March – check back for further details for drop-in upcycling sessions taking place at our Fonthill Road shop.
