Repair and Upcycle Drop-In Session Review – 9th June 2026

On Tuesday 9th June, FC Designer Collective shop welcomed 14 attendees to our fortnightly, free, Repair and Upcycle Drop-In on Fonthill Road, London N4. The session brought together people of different skill levels, all united by a desire to repair, alter and extend the life of their clothing and accessories.

Participants worked on a wide range of items, including trousers, dresses, pyjama bottoms, jeans, shirts and a bag. Throughout the session, attendees received guidance and support from the team while developing practical repair and upcycling skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

The workshop continues to demonstrate strong demand for accessible textile repair opportunities within the local community. Attendees discovered the free session, supported by Islington Council, through Eventbrite and word of mouth, highlighting the value of both digital promotion and community recommendations in reaching participants.

Feedback from the session was overwhelmingly positive, with all 14 attendees reporting that they found the workshop useful and expressing interest in attending future dates.

Participants shared:

“Layla and the team are amazing, thank you.”

“I always enjoy my time here and learn a lot, thanks.”

Several attendees also requested additional workshops, demonstrating an appetite for more opportunities to learn repair and upcycling techniques and engage with sustainable fashion practices.

By supporting participants to repair, alter and reimagine existing garments, the Repair and Upcycle Drop-In helps reduce textile waste, encourages circular fashion practices and builds confidence in practical making skills. The fortnightly sessions continue to create a welcoming space where people can learn from one another, share knowledge and contribute to a more sustainable fashion future.

We look forward to welcoming both returning and new participants to future Repair and Upcycle Drop-In sessions at FC Designer Collective. The next session is Tuesday 23rd June, please register to confirm your place. For all up and coming dates through until October 2026 please visit our Eventbrite page.
