11 May ReFAB Studio x FEL Workshop #6 Empowers Community Through Sustainable Fashion Skills

On 8th May, ReFAB Studio x FEL delivered the sixth session of its 12-part creative workshop series, welcoming 13 participants to an inspiring day of sustainable fashion and hands-on learning. The free public workshop, supported by The Clothworkers’ Company, took place at the fully equipped FC Designer Workspace in Islington.

Focused on sustainability, creativity and practical skill-building, the workshop gave participants the opportunity to work with luxury reclaimed fabrics, transforming offcuts into high-quality lifestyle products including cosmetic bags and tote bags. Guided by experienced tutors, attendees learned professional sewing techniques while creating functional handmade items they could take home and use immediately.

The session welcomed participants of varying experience levels, from complete beginners to those looking to refine existing sewing skills. Throughout the workshop, attendees received hands-on guidance using industrial sewing machines and learned valuable techniques such as inserting zips, cutting notches and improving sewing accuracy and confidence.
