16 Jun ReFAB Studio x FEL Continues Creative Sustainability Programme with Session Eight
The eighth workshop in the ReFAB Studio x Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) free, creative workshop series took place on 12th June 2026, welcoming 15 participants to FC Designer Workspace for a day of hands-on learning, sustainable making and creative exploration.
Supported by The Clothworkers’ Company, the free 12-part workshop programme has been designed to encourage sustainable fashion practices while equipping participants with practical sewing and upcycling skills that can be applied both personally and professionally.

During this latest session, participants worked with reclaimed luxury fabrics, transforming high-quality surplus materials into beautiful and functional accessories. Guided by FEL’s experienced tutors, attendees created their own cosmetic bags, tote bags and cushion covers while learning a range of professional sewing techniques.

The workshop provided an ideal opportunity for beginners and more experienced makers alike to develop new skills in a supportive and inspiring environment. Working within the fully equipped FC Designer Workspace, participants gained practical experience using industrial sewing equipment while learning how discarded fabrics can be repurposed into desirable products, helping to reduce textile waste and promote circular fashion principles.

Throughout the session, attendees learned valuable construction techniques including zip insertion, lining application, top stitching, box corners and working with different fabric weights and textures.

The feedback from participants highlighted both the quality of tuition and the positive learning environment created throughout the workshop:
“Very good, excellent and knowledgeable staff.”
“I enjoyed the session very much, wonderful. The teachers are patient, nice and good.”
“I learnt how to put in a zip and sew a lining plus bagging out a cosmetic bag.”
“Very instructive with patient tutors.”
“I’ve learnt how to use a sewing machine! I have zero experience in this and I learn everything. The teachers are so lovely and patient, thank you!”
“I’ve learnt how to do box edges for the seam. I tried top stitching on the zip and learning a bit about different weights of materials.”
“The staff were so kind, patient and helpful, which helped me stay calm and work through my project carefully.”
“Brilliant class as usual. This is my second time and will be coming back.”
“Fantastic class, learnt very useful skills to be able to reduce fabric waste. Went away with a beautiful purse. Thank you.”
The ReFAB Studio x FEL workshop programme continues to demonstrate how creativity, sustainability and skills development can work hand-in-hand. By giving participants access to professional facilities, expert tuition and reclaimed materials, the initiative is helping to build confidence, encourage sustainable thinking and inspire a new generation of makers.
With four workshops remaining in the series, participants can look forward to further opportunities to explore innovative upcycling techniques, develop practical sewing skills and discover new ways to transform surplus textiles into valuable products.
