20 Apr ReFAB Studio X FEL Community Workshop Part 5: Cosmetic Bags
On 16th April 2026, FC Designer Workspace hosted its fifth session with ReFAB Studio. The ReFAB Studio X Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) collaborative workshop series brought together individuals eager to explore sustainable design through hands-on learning.

This free cosmetic bag workshop formed part of a wider initiative supported by The Clothworkers’ Company, aimed at equipping local communities with practical skills while promoting circular fashion principles. By combining creativity with sustainability, the programme continues to demonstrate how upcycling can be both accessible and impactful.

Participants were introduced to a range of essential techniques, including pattern cutting, sewing, and garment construction. Many had the opportunity to work with industrial sewing machines for the first time, gaining valuable insight into professional practices. The session also explored interior textiles, encouraging attendees to think beyond traditional fashion applications and consider how sustainable methods can extend into homeware or product design.

The nine attendees had a productive morning learning to use industrial machines, and by the end of the session, they made a reversible cosmetic bag to take home.
Feedback from the attendees included:
‘I’ve never touched a sewing machine, so I’m happy I got to make a bag for the first time.’
‘Once again, an amazing experience where any obstacles were overcome with the help of having Louise and Louisa.’
‘Really attentive, helpful instructors.’
‘I feel empowered.’
‘I had an amazing time, so much fun and informative.’
