09 Feb ReFAB Studio and FEL Launch Community Upcycling Workshops at FC Designer Workspace to Transform Textile Waste into Green Skills and Creative Opportunities
ReFAB Studio and Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) have joined forces to launch a new series of collaborative upcycling workshops at FC Designer Workspace in North London, supported by the Clothworkers’ Company. The initiative is designed to empower local communities through circular design, practical skill-building, and sustainable creativity — all delivered within Fashion-Enter’s flagship training and manufacturing hub.
The 12-workshop series will take place at FC Designer Workspace, a fully equipped, industry-standard training centre that sits at the heart of Fashion-Enter’s social enterprise mission. The venue provides professional machinery, expert guidance, and an inclusive learning environment, making it the ideal setting for hands-on upcycling and technical development. The programme builds on ReFAB Studio’s mission to transform interior textile waste into tools for education, empowerment, and wellbeing.
By working with community tailors and local learners, the workshops offer practical upskilling in sewing, product design, and sustainable making. Hosted within the supportive space of FC Designer Workspace, participants gain access not only to technical training but also to a real manufacturing environment that bridges creativity with industry insight.

Each session invites participants to repurpose luxury-grade reclaimed fabrics donated through ReFAB Studio’s network of interiors partners into beautifully crafted lifestyle products such as cushions, accessories, and homewares. Within the collaborative space of FC Designer Workspace, these sessions become more than workshops — they are hubs for connection, shared learning, and creative growth.
Rooted in a shared commitment to circularity and inclusive education, the collaboration responds to the growing demand for green skills and local action on textile waste. As textile production remains a major contributor to global emissions, this programme demonstrates how industry-quality facilities like FC Designer Workspace can support climate-conscious design while fostering meaningful community impact.
The initiative also recognises the emotional and social value of creative making. By hosting the programme at FC Designer Workspace, participants benefit from a welcoming, wellbeing-focused environment that supports confidence-building, peer support, and long-term skills development.
Fashion-Enter Ltd, an award-winning social enterprise and ethical garment manufacturer, brings extensive expertise in training, manufacturing, and community education. ReFAB Studio, an initiative of The Kartik Foundation, contributes specialist knowledge in textile upcycling and circular design, alongside access to salvaged premium interior textiles.
Together, the organisations are creating a replicable model for local circularity — one where waste is reimagined, skills are shared, and communities thrive with FC Designer Workspace serving as the central hub for delivery, learning and impact.
The workshops are free to attend and will take place at FC Designer Workspace in North London, with all materials and equipment provided.
