November’s Upcycling and Repair Drop In Workshop Full to Capacity

On Tuesday 12th November the FC Designer Collective shop held its monthly, free workshop for individuals wanting to repair or upcycle items from their wardrobe. The FC Designer Collective, located on Fonthill Road, is equipped with sewing machines, pressers and haberdashery, alongside experienced stitching technicians to provide support and advice.

This month the workshop was buzzing with activity and attracted 22 attendees, most of which brought multiple items to work on. These free, monthly sessions are kindly supported by Islington Council and provide an excellent way to encourage repairs and make the most of existing garments.

During this session attendees worked on a broad range of clothing items from jeans to coat linings, gloves to dresses and skirts. Many repaired holes and re-stitched hems while others experimented with upcycling and alterations.

The feedback from the group was extremely positive with most ticking ‘excellent’ and that the session was ‘very useful’, many added that they would like to return for another workshop. The majority found out about the session via Eventbrite, Instagram, or the local Islington Magazine.

Next month the Repair and Upcycle Drop In will take place on Tuesday 10th December, please visit our Eventbrite page to check availability and register.
