Modesty wear brands launch event in Finsbury Park

A group of local designers are set to launch their new ethical, modern modesty wear collections this month at the FC Designer Workspace in Finsbury Park, on Wednesday 23 March from 10am – 1pm.

The founders and designers of Anaqa ApparelENNAY Official and Shama, have all launched their businesses in the new FC Designer Workspace – an affordable workspace co-funded by Islington Council and the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund.

As director of the Women’s Social Society, Jannaty, Majida Sayam aims to empower women and girls from disadvantaged BAME groups. Majida’s modesty range, Anaqa Apparel, is handmade by local sewing groups, featuring designs inspired by the diverse heritage and cultures of the group.

Nabila, founder of ENNAY Official, has a mission to transform fashion for the Muslim community, especially Muslim teenagers who find it difficult to connect to fashion trends. Nabila designs and makes trend led pieces with a modest, yet modern focus.

Maria, Semira and Afefat, hailing from East Africa, are behind the hijab and modesty wear brand, Shama.  They create affordable modest clothing and hijabs with love and quality fabrics that allow their customers cover up and look beautiful at the same time.

The launch event on Wednesday 23 March will provide an opportunity to meet the designers, hear their stories and watch sewing demonstrations on how their ideas come to life.
