At Fashion-Enter Ltd the team understand the importance of mental health and wellbeing with their own CEO, Jenny Holloway, qualified with a NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.

On 11th December Jenny held a CPPD training session with all tutors at the Fashion Technology Academy, including those at the FC Designer Workspace. She discussed mental health in today’s current climate, the rise of long-term absence from long COVID and the measures and support employers / tutors can put in place.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, 2022 data, it is estimated that 1 in 6 people have experienced a common mental health problem in the past week.

Jenny discussed how stress can impact an individual physically and emotionally, along with their behaviour and how to recognise the signs. She also talked about common misconceptions of embarrassment, and not being able to openly talk to tutors / managers and encouraged how to keep channels open with employees / the team and students so that they feel comfortable to ask for support and, if needed, time off to seek medical advice.

Mental health is on a continuous scale that changes throughout each individuals life, Jenny, along with other FEL staff members have undergone mental health training to ensure they can offer the right support and advice for any individual that needs it across all campuses.
