May’s Monthly Repair and Upcycle Drop In

Open to all, the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road opened its doors to the general public so that they could use the on-site industrial machines and gain advice and support with any repairs, upcycles or alterations.

Held monthly, the May edition took place on Tuesday 14th, and was hosted by Maria and Leyla. The session attracted 26 sign-ups on Eventbrite of which 10 came along with their items from home to participate. The day-long, drop-in is free, thanks to support from Islington Council, however signing-up via Eventbrite is required so the team can manage numbers.

All of the attendees at this edition were enthusiastic and worked on a variety of clothing repairs and alterations as well as patchwork textiles. During these sessions FEL offers further support on obtaining a job and gives advice on current apprenticeships positions, how to run their own business and on interviews.

Feedback from the day was extremely positive with all ticking ‘excellent’ on their feedback forms.

Thanks to Islington Council for supporting with this monthly initiative. The next session will take place on Tuesday 11th June.
