30 Apr Local Community Keeps Fashion Circular at Repair & Upcycle Drop-In
On 29 April 2025, the FC Designer Collective shop welcomed 14 attendees for a free, lively and hands-on repair and upcycling session. The event saw an even mix of projects, with participants bringing in well-loved garments for both repair and creative transformation — from t-shirts and trousers to dresses and waistcoats.

Supported by our experienced stitching technicians and the expert alteration skills of shop manager Leyla, attendees worked on extending the life of their clothes — a vital step in reducing textile waste and keeping garments out of landfill.
By giving new life to skirts, t-shirts, and more, participants not only saved clothes from disposal but also gained the confidence to continue mending and upcycling at home. Feedback was unanimously positive, with all attendees rating the event as “excellent” and expressing a strong interest in returning. One participant shared, “Another sewing machine would be great but other than that it was really well run and managed.”
The next free Repair and Upcycle Drop-In, supported by Islington Council, will take place on Tuesday 6th May at the FC Designer Collective shop. Tap here to register and be part of the growing movement for sustainable fashion in our community.
