10 Apr Inspiring the Next Generation: World of Work Event – Islington
On 9th April, Fashion-Enter Ltd CEO, Jenny Holloway, spoke to 13–16 year-olds at the World of Work event at the Youth Employment Hub in Islington.
The World of Work is an Islington Council initiative to inspire, support and prepare young people with knowledge, skills and career direction.

Jenny spoke about courses and job opportunities within the fashion and textile sector, specifically the variety of job roles and what these entail. These included: Fashion Designer, Fashion Buyer, Retail Manager, Fashion Merchandiser, Visual Merchandiser, Fashion Marketer, PR and Communications Officer, Social Media Manager, Stylist, Textile Designer, Garment Technologist, Fashion Illustrator and Pattern Cutter. Jenny gave her top tips for breaking into the industry and what employers are looking for. She also explained about the FC Designer Workspace and how this supports new brands and designers from the ground up.

The seminar was well received and the young people had lots of interesting questions, from upcycling garments to building niche, own-business brands.
