06 Jan Free Sewing Masterclass Success

On 1st and 22nd December, we hosted two free sewing masterclasses in the Fonthill Road shop for Islington residents 
Daria found out about the masterclasses after visiting the workspace with the Hilldrop Community Centre on 23rd November. Following an introduction and overview by Jenni Sutton, followed by a tour of the space and demonstration of the sewing machines with tutor Ana, Daria felt inspired to learn more join one of the courses. Before committing to the 6-week Level 1 Stitching Academy course we explained to Daria that as an Islington resident she could join the free sewing masterclasses with Leyla as a taster session. Daria was able to go along to two masterclasses in December and felt she learnt a lot with Leyla – 
“I attended this morning’s masterclass and felt so lucky to have two hours of Leyla’s time. I feel that I’ve learned a lot this morning and mostly I feel more confident that I could really learn a new skill in sewing and maybe more!”

Daria is now set to join the next cohort of Level 1 learners on 10th January and follow her dream of setting up her own brand. We will support Daria every step of the way.
