09 Jul FC Designer Collective Shop Hosts Successful Free Community Repair & Upcycle Workshop – 7th July
On Tuesday 7th July, Fashion-Enter Ltd welcomed local residents to its free Community Repair & Upcycle Drop-in Workshop at the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road, just moments from Finsbury Park station. The bi-monthly initiative, supported by Islington Council, continues to encourage sustainable fashion practices while helping the local community extend the life of their clothing.
The session attracted 14 attendees, who brought along a wide variety of garments from home to repair, alter and upcycle. With guidance and practical support from Fashion-Enter Ltd’s experienced stitching technicians, participants worked on everything from dresses, hats and T-shirts to jeans, tops and skirts. Many attendees took the opportunity to work on multiple items, learning valuable repair skills while giving their clothing a new lease of life.

The workshop created a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere, with participants sharing ideas, developing new skills and embracing more sustainable approaches to fashion.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Participants described the workshop as “excellent” and praised the “fantastic assistance” and “really helpful” support provided by the stitching technicians throughout the day. Many expressed a desire for the sessions to be held more frequently and suggested increasing the number of sewing machines available to accommodate growing demand.

Constructive suggestions included adding background music to enhance the atmosphere and providing fans during warmer weather, as the workshop coincided with the recent heatwave. Several attendees also recognised how busy the technicians were throughout the session and suggested ensuring they have opportunities for breaks during these popular events.

Fashion-Enter Ltd is delighted by the continued success of these community workshops, which not only promote clothing repair and reuse but also strengthen community engagement and support more sustainable fashion habits. The organisation looks forward to welcoming even more local residents to future bi-monthly sessions.
The next drop-in will take place Tuesday 21st July, tap here to register your free place.
