08 May Fashion-Enter Ltd Hosts Legal Masterclass for Creative Start-Ups with Impact Lawyers
On Wednesday 8th May, Fashion-Enter Ltd welcomed creative entrepreneurs to an insightful online masterclass focused on the legal essentials of running a business. Hosted via Zoom, the session was led by Jenny Holloway, CEO of Fashion-Enter Ltd, and featured guest speakers Kevin Withane and Nick Gould, Partners at Impact Lawyers.
With deep expertise in both law and business, Kevin and Nick are committed to supporting creative start-ups by helping them understand the legal foundations needed to build and scale a business successfully. Their practical advice was particularly valuable for residents and learners of the FC Designer Workspace, many of whom are at the early stages of their entrepreneurial journeys.

The free one-hour session drew strong interest, with over 50 individuals registering, and covered a comprehensive range of topics:
- The importance of paper trails: Nick highlighted how even informal notes or email threads can offer vital legal protection, potentially saving time and money.
- The value of written contracts: Using real-life examples, the session demonstrated how clear, written agreements protect all parties and help avoid disputes.
- Consumer Rights Act 2015: An overview of key responsibilities, including the standard 30-day return policy.
- Intellectual property (IP): A breakdown of key protections such as copyright, patents, and trademark registration, emphasising the importance of owning and securing your creative output.
- Setting up a company: Legal considerations and common pitfalls when establishing a business entity.
- Funding and investment: An introduction to sourcing investment, including the types of legal documents typically required when raising capital.
Participants were given the chance to ask questions and dive deeper into issues such as Sale or Return agreements, trademark registration, and the boundaries of copyright.
Jenny noted the enthusiastic response from start-ups and small businesses, particularly around funding, and expressed interest in organising a follow-up session focused exclusively on investment readiness and financial planning.
A huge thank you to Kevin and Nick for delivering such a valuable and informative session. Further details of the next masterclass will be announced shortly.
