Fantastic Response to Repair Week Workshop Supported by Islington Council

Fashion-Enter Ltd, supported by Islington Council, hosted a free repair and upcycle drop-in workshop at the FC Designer Collective shop on Tuesday 4th March. Held in conjunction with ReLondon’s Repair Week, the event attracted an amazing 95 registrations!

Attendees brought in their clothing items in need of TLC, alteration or a complete upcycle, and utilised the fully equipped shop along with support and expertise from the team.

FC/FEL CEO Jenny Holloway said:“The Repair Week drop-in session at the shop was heaving! 95 people had registered and there was an absolute buzz go excitement in the air.

“We brought in three extra tutors, along with veteran stitching technician Leyla, who runs the FC Designer Collective boutique and has over 45-year of experience as a seamstress.

“A huge thank you, as always, to Islington Council and this time to ReLondon who supported the Repair Week event. There is a step change movement towards repairs being socially acceptable and even trendy! Long may this continue, especially when you consider, according to the latest WRAP report, that buying one pair of secondhand jeans online can save over 30 kg of CO2e, roughly the same as making 600 cups of tea!”

Repairs ranged from hemming, altering sleeve lengths, patching holes, repairing bag straps to reworking garments into something new.

During the event City London News interviewed Jenny Holloway about the importance of repair and encouraging reuse through community led events.
