27 Sep Expert Advice: Masterclass with Product Consultant Sonya Mallett

On Wednesday 27th September at 10am, Sonya Mallett a Product Consultant gave an in-depth 1-hour online masterclass to 13 small businesses advising the importance of market research and how to use this information to optimise the identity and flow of their brand.

Sonya got in touch with the Fashion Studio in October 2022 in search for a UK ethical sports manufacturer for one of her clients, she was then working closely with Gee, now Development Coordinator, when she was assisting in the Fashion Studio.

Sometimes the Fashion Studio receives enquiries that come without a techpack, so Gee would recommend the support of Sonya to new clients and thought it would be a great idea for small businesses at the FC Designer Workspace and external attendees online to have access to the information and support that Sonya provides.

This session was streamed to designers and learners at the FC Designer Workspace as well as external attendees. In the PowerPoint presentation, Sonya discussed different marketing techniques, benefits of manufacturing in the UK and then closed with the importance of continuous improvement and optimisation after the launch of a collection. In this section she discussed SKU management, reviewing and analysing customer feedback and the different strategies suggested to take going forward. At the end of the session she invited attendees to ask questions and explained clearly her fashion / product development career path and current business consultancy service.
