07 Apr Connecting Creativity with Community: Sewing Workshop at Andover Estate Community Centre
On Thursday 2nd April, the Andover Estate Community Centre in Finsbury Park became a hub of creativity as local young people took part in an engaging sewing workshop led by Lan Leeder, Head of Education at Fashion-Enter Ltd / Fashion Technology Academy.
The session was designed to introduce attendees to opportunities within fashion education, with a particular focus on the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice. The workshop also encouraged participants to explore upcoming open days and taster sessions hosted at the FC Designer Workspace.
Taking a hands-on approach, Lan guided the group through a tote bag decorating activity, allowing participants to experiment with design techniques while building confidence in their creative abilities. The interactive format ensured that everyone could get involved, regardless of their previous experience.

Alongside the practical element, attendees were introduced to the wide range of courses available at the Fashion Technology Academy, as well as the broader training pathways and career opportunities within the fashion and textiles industry. The session aimed to open doors for young people, helping them see fashion as both a creative outlet and a viable career path.
Lan Leeder reflected on the success of the workshop, saying: “It was a lovely event. FEL is engaging with the local community to raise awareness of our courses and services. Thank you to Islington Council for organising the session.”
This community-focused initiative highlights the ongoing commitment of Fashion-Enter Ltd and the Fashion Technology Academy to making education accessible, inspiring future talent and strengthening connections within the local area.
