19 Oct Upcycling and Repair Workshop #2 with Islington Council
On Tuesday 19th October Fashion-Enter Ltd had their second monthly drop-in Repair and Upcycle session at the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road from 10am until 5pm. Supported by Islington Council local residents were invited to pop in with their clothing repairs or upcycling projects.
This month’s workshop took place during Recycle Week and a great success attracting 8 visitors with different levels of experience. There were students studying fashion at university, people popping by to fix a zip or a moth hole on their lunch break, and even many first time sewers interested in using a machine to fix or alter their clothes.

Development Co-ordinator, Gee and Stitching Technician, Leyla spent time with each individual to help them successfully upcycle or repair their chosen garments , the feedback was great and we are sure to being seeing a few familiar faces next month!
One of the visitors was from the building upstairs and mentioned that her new jumper had already got moth holes and that she could re-buy it but was super pleased that we were holding the free repairs event and could use her skills to hand sew her jumper back to perfection.
It’s such a great opportunity for the local residents of Islington to get involved and save a few £’s on repairs and continue the lifecycle of their favourite items.
Gee commented: “I even learnt new skills and was happy to give advice on what I thought would be the simplest way to construct the repairs or an upcycle – with the second approval from Leyla of course, she’s the queen tailor of the shop! It’s really great working as a team and seeing everybody socialise over the creation of their projects. Everyone did such a great job, it was great to help out with transforming a khaki parker with a removeable leopard fluffy collar, I look forward to next months drop-in session, we have invited people from the Andover Community Centre to come and join in.“
The next drop-in session will take place: Tuesday, 14th November 10am – 5pm
