27 Mar ReFAB Studio X FEL Free Upcycling Workshop Part 3
On Thursday 26th March, ReFAB Studio and Fashion-Enter Ltd held their third workshop at the FC Designer Workspace, focusing on cushion covers.
ReFAB Studio and Fashion-Enter Ltd / FashionCapital have joined forces to launch a new series of collaborative upcycling workshops, supported by the Clothworkers’ Company, designed to empower local communities through circular design, practical skill-building, and sustainable creativity.

The aim is to transform interior textile waste into tools for education, empowerment and wellbeing. The workshop offers practical upskilling in sewing, product design, and sustainable making while promoting confidence, creativity and green careers. The series of workshops will salvage and curate premium, unused remnants from designer textile merchants and interior brands. These materials will be repurposed through an upcycling training series, enabling participants to turn waste textiles into desirable lifestyle products such as tote bags, cushion covers, and table runners.

By the end of the session, the 11 participants learned to operate various industrial machines and created their own cushion cover to take home.

Feedback from the session:
“I have learnt how important precision is when using the sewing machines. I really enjoyed creating my cushion; I am very proud of it. The environment was reassuring and relaxing.”
“Amazing session, working on an industrial machine, very patient and supportive trainers. Never used an industrial sewing machine or knew before.”
“This was my first time using an industrial sewing machine! I found the whole session enjoyable, relaxing (most of the time), therapeutic and lastly rewarding! A huge thank you to Louisa and Lan for their patience, calm teaching and technique. I’ll be back!”
