27 Feb ReFAB Studio X FEL Free Upcycling Workshop Part 1
On Friday, 27th February, ReFAB Studio and Fashion-Enter Ltd started their first series of workshops at the FC Designer Workspace.

ReFAB Studio and Fashion-Enter Ltd / FashionCapital have joined forces to launch a new series of collaborative upcycling workshops, supported by the Clothworkers’ Company, designed to empower local communities through circular design, practical skill-building, and sustainable creativity. The mission is to transform interior textile waste into tools for education, empowerment and wellbeing.

The workshop offers hands-on upskilling in sewing, product design, and sustainable making while promoting confidence, creativity, and green careers.

The series of workshops will salvage and curate premium, unused remnants from designer textile merchants and interior brands. These materials will be repurposed through an upcycling training series, enabling participants to transform waste textiles into desirable lifestyle products such as tote bags, cushion covers, and table runners.

On the 27th, the participants learned how to use industrial machines to create their own cushion covers and added embellishments for decoration. It was a fun and relaxing experience, and each participant felt they gained valuable skills from the workshop.

Head of Education at the FTA, Lan Leeder said: “This is a great workshop and a fantastic programme using unused remnants and luxury textile waste to make cushion covers, tote bags, and cosmetic bags. The participants had fun. By the end of the session, everyone made some beautiful covers to take home.”
