Leyla Mehmet is our super ace seamstress with over 45-years experience in stitching and pattern making. She started stitching when she was 15-years-old and has never stopped since! Her stitching expertise is impeccable, and since running her own studios, factories and teaching at Fashion-Enter’s Stitching Academy she has become the on-site seamstress at FC Designer Collective on Fonthill Road.
Throughout 2021 to date Leyla has been passing on her valuable stitching and making knowledge to Islington residents, from beginners to those with their own fashion labels. She also provides a popular alteration service which consistently creates 50% of FC Designer Collective’s sales. Her alterations range from individual requests to other Fonthill Road wholesalers and traders utilising her excellent skills. Leyla really can create anything and has become an essential asset to Fonthill Road with local traders sales profiting as a result.

The FC Designer Collective recently held an Open Day and welcomed 15 people to meet Leyla and Jenny who provided support and guidance on stitching skills, next steps for obtaining skills and support with career’s advice. This informal event went really well with great feedback from local residents.
