14 Aug Getting Creative at the Repair & Upcycling Workshop
The 1-day Repair and Upcycling workshop on Friday 11th August was filled with lots of excited creatives from all over London / surrounding areas.

Overall the attendees feedback was great, it was their first upcycling workshop for most, which meant the teachers spent time to teach the group how to set up an industrial sewing machine and how to create a finished garment from deadstock fabric, existing garments and donated scrap fabrics.

Some of the attendees also signed up to the Fashions Finest & Cancer Research competition and used items that were donated by the Cancer Research Islington shop within their designs. (This competition has now closed and the winner will be announced in due course.)

One attendee said: “I am extremely grateful for these sessions – it really helps my wellbeing doing creative stuff. I really enjoyed myself today, the staff were really great, helpful and knowledgable. I really enjoy working with textiles and I’m looking forward to getting better skills.”
Another added: “Amazing workshop, I would recommend to anyone.”

From this 1 day workshop the FC Designer Workspace had 7 people take an interest in the Level 1 Stitching course and future Repair and Upcycling classes.
Due to popular demand we have scheduled two more Repair and Upcycle workshop dates on the 23rd (sold out) and 24th August. These workshops take place from 10am – 3pm at the FC Designer Workspace on Durham Road and cost just £5. To book for the 24th August (last few places remaining) tap here.
