FC Designer Workspace Curtain Commission Now Up and Hanging

Back in the summer FC Designer Workspace undertook a free 3-day workshop in curtain making in collaboration with Public Works Group. This community led project saw the participants work through the entire process from; fully understanding the brief, working in small teams, measuring up, choosing the right fabric, designing and creating samples.

By the end of the 3-day workshop the final designs were displayed at the West Library with the aim of selecting a winning design to be commissioned to make the curtains for the new community space.

Last Friday 2nd December, the winner, Manuela, was able to hang the final set of purpose made curtains. On first inspection the curtains looked good but they were far too long (see picture below), so she pinned them to achieve the right length to suit the room, plus a little extra so as they didn’t become too short.

Manuela then took down the curtains to work on the length and returned to the Library the following day with her children to re-hang them where they are now in place. Manuela said: “Overall I am happy with the results.”

Well done Manuela, we know it was difficult to fit in the time on this commission with work and family commitments but you did it and the curtains look great.

Jenny Holloway, CEO, Fashion-Enter said: “This is exactly why we wanted the FC Designer Workspace program – this curtain competition reflects community work in action and absolute credit to Manuela for such a fantastic job.

Here’s to the next project.”
