FareShare Celebrates New Islington Home with Community Leaders and Local Support

On Monday, 2nd June, FareShare UK was proud to welcome a wide range of guests to a special event marking the launch of its new presence in Islington. The initiative made possible through a landmark social value lease from Islington Council, has been valued at over £1 million across its lifetime.

Held at FareShare’s new base in the White Collar Factory, the event brought together representatives from local government, community organisations, and social enterprises, including Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL), to celebrate a shared commitment to tackling food insecurity and building stronger local communities.

The afternoon began with drinks and canapés before an inspiring programme of talks and networking. Councillor Bell-Bradford opened proceedings with a warm welcome on behalf of Islington Council, followed by reflections from Stephen Biggs, Deputy CEO of the Council, on the importance of strategic partnerships in addressing local challenges.

Carl Hawkes took the audience through the journey of transforming FareShare’s vision into a functional community space, emphasising the role of this new home in deepening impact across Islington. Damien from The Felix Project shared insights into the collaborative delivery efforts supporting local charities, while FareShare UK’s CEO, Kris Gibbon-Walsh, rounded out the talks with a compelling overview of the organisation’s mission and the critical importance of partnership with the council.

Guests, including FEL’s Creative Director, Beth Davy-Day then had the opportunity to tour the new facility, network, and learn more about the future plans to expand FareShare’s impact across the borough.

FareShare’s presence in Islington represents more than a new location—it symbolises a deeper commitment to those who need support the most. The FEL team are excited to see how this new chapter unfolds and look forward to exploring opportunities for collaboration in the future.
