Fantastic Feedback From John Herrera’s Collar and Sleeve Workshop

Couture designer and fashion educator John Herrera has been providing a series of 1-day Saturday workshops at the FC Designer Workspace and on the 10th May the focus was on Collars and Sleeves.

Open to individuals of all levels John provided a step-by-step journey to understand the pattern making process clearly, ensuring that every participant could confidently grasp each technique.

Participants were taught:

  • How to take body measurements.
  • How to trace a basic bodice block accurately with all the markings.
  • How to draft different sleeve patterns such as pleated with cuff, gathered with cuff, bell sleeve and leg of mutton.
  • How to draft different collar patterns such as a mandarin, Peter Pan, sailor, and jabot.
  • How to properly label and mark individual pattern pieces with symbols and notches.

The feedback from this workshop was fantastic, with many of the participants praising John’s creative passion and teaching ability.
