13 Dec Excelling at Technical Skills in Fashion – UAL Moderation
Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) has a proven track record in skills and training in the fashion and textiles sector. This has led to their own dedicated budgets for Apprenticeships with employers that have levy money available for training.
As with all apprenticeships moderations are a necessity for quality assurance, and on Tuesday 12th December FEL had their moderation with UAL for the Fashion Studio Assistant apprenticeship.
Rachel Fernandes recently joined FEL as Quality Assurance and Apprenticeship Manager and within two weeks of her starting her career at FEL she has had an Ofsted moderation (on behalf of CCCG and the adult training undertaken by FEL as a subcontractor) and now a moderation for UAL.
Rachel Fernandes, Apprenticeship & QA Manager, said: “Completing this moderation has given me a much better insight of the Fashion Studio Assistant Apprenticeship and the meticulous attention to detail that UAL require. It has also provided a good foundation and direction into how I need to keep up to date with all paperwork and how important my comments will be in evidencing the learners journey throughout the course.”
Jenny Holloway, CEO at FEL commented: “What a start to any career! However, Rachel is a true professional with a real can-do positive attitude. It’s so motivating to be with Rachel. Rachel has excelled in the moderation with UAL who commented on the following areas of excellence.”
The report stated:
+ Evidence for the Mandatory Core units was comprehensive with the student demonstrating an excellent
understanding of processes and procedures within the workplace this was supported by Employer
Witness testimonies confirming that all tasks carried out within the workplace were completed
satisfactorily to a standard meeting the assessment criteria.
+ Evidence for the Optional units was comprehensive with a strong portfolio of evidence presented.
+ All documentation of the course is excellent, students are provided with a Final Assessment decision
(FAD) sheet to complete with all assessment criteria cross referenced to the evidence provided and date
of submission, these are supported by Product Evidence Records (PES) with helpful and relevant tutor feedback for each task within the unit.
Senior External Moderator at UAL Awarding Body Sarah Atkinson stated: ‘I would like to thank Rachel and Fashion-Enter for their help with the facilitation of Digital Moderation and the continued level of excellence for students undertaking this qualification.’
Jenny added: “Next year – 2023 is an exciting time for us all in education. We are working on some large programs that will put technical skills in stitching, patterns et al at the forefront of the fashion industry.”
