31 Jan Course Enrichment – Visit to a Live Apparel Factory
Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) is in a truly unique position to be able to offer learners a taste of the apparel industry in operation. Next to FEL’s Fashion Technology Academy campus in Haringey is their fully compliant, SMETA and Fast Forward audited factory producing up to 15,000 garments per week.

All learners based in Haringey and Islington are invited to the factory for a course enrichment tour and on Monday 30th January it was the turn of the current cohort of Level 1 Stitching learners based at the FC Designer Workspace in Islington.

These enrichment sessions provide an excellent opportunity for learners to understand how their fundamental training relates to a working role within the garment production process. Stitching tutor Ana took her Level 1 group, now 4 weeks into their course, to the Haringey factory where each step of the garment making process was fully explained and demonstrated. Here, the students are also able to learn about the different job roles within a busy apparel factory and the skills required.
Fashion-Enter Ltd CEO Jenny Holloway said: “We want our learners to be industry ready when they leave our FTA, that’s why these enrichment sessions are so important. They need to see the skills that they are learning at the FCDW applied in a working environment as well as learn about all the various job roles available within the industry. Once they have an idea of the direction they want to take we can then support them with careers and CV advice.”
