05 Dec Community Comes Together for Repair & Upcycle Drop-In at FC Designer Collective
On Tuesday 2nd December, the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road, London N4, welcomed local residents for a Free Community Repair & Upcycle Drop-In—a hands-on session aimed at giving new life to well-loved garments and everyday items.
The event, hosted by FEL and supported by Islington Council, attracted eight enthusiastic attendees. Participants arrived with a wide variety of items from home, including bags, trousers, skirts, jumpers and shirts. Many brought multiple pieces to repair or creatively upcycle, making the session lively and varied.

Some attendees were familiar faces who had joined previous drop-ins, while others discovered the event through Eventbrite or simply by word of mouth. Regardless of how they found the session, feedback was overwhelmingly positive—ranging from good to excellent—with many expressing a strong interest in returning.
The welcoming atmosphere, practical skills shared, and visible transformations made the event a warm and collaborative community moment, demonstrating the growing interest in sustainable fashion and repair culture.
