12 Feb Community Comes Together for Repair and Upcycle Drop-In at FC Designer Collective
On Tuesday 10th February, the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road in Finsbury Park hosted a free Repair and Upcycle Drop-In session for the local community and it proved to be a great success.

Nine attendees took part in the day, bringing with them a wide range of clothing and textile items in need of care and creativity. Projects included repairing jackets, shortening trousers and dresses, and refreshing household textiles such as tablecloths. Participants also worked on bags and jumpers, transforming well-loved pieces into items ready to be worn and used again.

The session offered a welcoming space for people to learn new skills, extend the life of their garments, and embrace more sustainable fashion habits. With guidance from an on-site stitching technician, attendees were supported throughout their projects, gaining confidence as they worked.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. All described the workshop as “excellent” and said they would happily return for another session. The stitching technician noted that the group was considerate and friendly, with everyone leaving pleased and proud of their refreshed items.

The Repair and Upcycle Drop-In sessions are part of an ongoing effort to encourage sustainable practices within the community helping people reduce waste while reconnecting with the value of their clothes and textiles.

The next free Repair and Upcycle Drop-In will take place on Tuesday 24th February, 10am – 4pm.
