25 Mar Bi-Monthly Textile Repair & Upcycling Drop-In at FC Designer Collective – 24th March
At the heart of north London’s growing sustainable fashion movement, the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road has once again opened its doors to the community for a hands-on day of repair, creativity and skill-sharing.

We’re pleased to share that support from Islington Council will continue, ensuring these free drop-in Repair & Upcycling sessions remain accessible to all. Hosted at FC Designer Collective, the initiative is helping to build confidence, reduce textile waste and bring people together through practical action.

The latest session, held on Tuesday 24th March, welcomed 17 attendees who arrived with a wide variety of garments in need of attention. From simple re-hemming jobs to more involved alterations and creative upcycling projects, the day was filled with activity and collaboration. Participants worked on everything from hats and tops to jackets, trousers and jeans, with many bringing along two or even three items to repair or transform.

The atmosphere was one of encouragement and shared learning, reflected in the overwhelmingly positive feedback. Attendees rated the experience from good to excellent, with every participant saying they would recommend the workshop to others. Crucially, many also noted that the session had given them the confidence to continue repairing and upcycling textiles independently—an important step toward more sustainable consumption habits.

One consistent suggestion for improvement was the need for additional sewing machines, as demand occasionally led to waiting times.

These workshops are not just about fixing clothes – they’re about rethinking our relationship with fashion, extending the life of garments, and fostering a community built on creativity and sustainability.
Join us at the next session on Tuesday 7th April and get involved.
