23 Jul Repair and Upcycle Drop-In Continues to Inspire London’s Sustainable Community

Fashion-Enter Ltd’s FC Designer Collective Shop on Fonthill Road welcomed another successful Repair and Upcycle Drop-In session on Tuesday 21st July, bringing together a diverse group of Londoners united by a shared commitment to extending the life of their clothing.

Held on a bi-monthly basis, the workshop attracted 14 attendees, who collectively brought along 30 garments to repair, alter or creatively upcycle. From tops, trousers and shorts to jackets, dresses and skirts, the session demonstrated just how many items can be given a second life rather than ending up in landfill.

Open to everyone, the Repair and Upcycle Drop-In welcomes participants of all abilities, from complete beginners picking up a needle for the first time to those with intermediate sewing skills looking to build their confidence. With expert guidance available throughout the session, attendees learn practical techniques that empower them to repair and refresh their own wardrobes.

The workshops continue to attract people from across London, highlighting the growing appetite for sustainable fashion and practical textile skills within the community. As awareness grows around the environmental impact of clothing waste, repair and upcycling offer accessible ways for consumers to reduce waste, save money and value the clothes they already own.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with participants describing the session as “superb“ and commenting on how useful and informative they found the workshop.

These community sessions are kindly supported by Islington Council as part of its commitment to sustainability, helping local people develop valuable skills while encouraging a more circular approach to fashion consumption.

The next Repair and Upcycle Drop-In will take place on Tuesday 11th August. Whether you’re looking to mend a favourite garment, alter an item for a better fit or transform something unworn into a fresh new piece, everyone is welcome.
