Community Repair & Upcycling Workshop Alongside London Climate Action Week

On Tuesday 23rd June, Fashion-Enter Ltd was delighted to host a free Community Repair and Upcycling Drop-In Session alongside London Climate Action Week at FC Designer Collective on Fonthill Road, London N4.

Supported by Islington Council, these bi-monthly workshops are designed to equip local residents with practical skills and expert advice to repair, alter and creatively upcycle garments they already own. By extending the life of clothing, participants can help reduce textile waste and lessen the environmental impact of fashion consumption.

Despite the soaring heatwave, the workshop attracted a fantastic turnout, with 12 attendees taking part throughout the day. Participants brought along a wide variety of garments and projects, including trousers, skirts, jeans, dresses and even a leotard. Our experienced team provided one-to-one support, helping attendees complete repairs, make alterations and explore creative upcycling techniques to give their clothing a new lease of life.

The session highlighted how simple actions such as mending, altering and reimagining existing garments can play an important role in building a more sustainable fashion industry.

Attendees were highly positive about the workshop and the support they received:

“It would be great to have more classes – about twice weekly.”

“Very good, Leyla made it work. I would suggest having more machines available to improve future events and cut down waiting times.”

The enthusiastic feedback demonstrates the growing demand for accessible repair and upcycling opportunities within the local community.

The next free Repair and Upcycling Drop-In Session will take place on Tuesday 7th July at FC Designer Collective, Fonthill Road, London N4. Whether you have a garment that needs repairing, altering or refreshing, our team will be on hand to help. Places can be booked here.
