04 Jun 16 – 18 Year Old Course Opportunities at FC Designer Workspace Open Day

On Thursday 29th May, FC Designer Workspace welcomed aspiring young creatives aged 16–18 to a special Open Day designed to introduce them to the exciting opportunities available within the fashion and textile industry.

Held during the half-term break, the free sewing workshop gave attendees a hands-on introduction to garment construction, upcycling and industrial sewing techniques, while providing valuable insight into the free Level 3 Fashion Course available through FC Designer Workspace.

Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to learn how to thread and operate a range of industrial sewing machines, develop basic sewing skills and explore how existing garments can be transformed through creative upcycling techniques. For many, it was their first experience working in a professional fashion production environment.

The workshop was designed to give young people a practical introduction to fashion education and help them gain confidence in using industry-standard equipment. Visitors were also able to meet tutors, tour the workspace and learn more about the training pathways available to support careers in fashion, textiles and garment production.

The event highlighted FC Designer Workspace’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of fashion talent by providing accessible training opportunities and practical industry experience. Attendees were encouraged to ask questions, discuss their career ambitions and discover how specialist training can help turn a passion for fashion into a professional pathway.

The enthusiasm and creativity shown throughout the day demonstrated the growing interest among young people in learning technical fashion skills and understanding the craftsmanship behind clothing production.

FC Designer Workspace will host its next Open Day on Thursday 16 July. Young people aged 16–18 who are interested in exploring training and course opportunities within the fashion and textile sector are encouraged to attend. The Open Day will provide another opportunity to experience industrial sewing equipment, meet the education team and find out more about the free courses available.
