FEL Supports Islington Resident with Fabric Donations to Foster Creativity and Wellbeing

North London-based social enterprise Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) and its educational arm, the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA), have once again demonstrated their commitment to community support and sustainability by donating fabric offcuts to an Islington resident in Adult Social Care. The donation is helping to nurture the resident’s passion for art, creativity, and personal wellbeing.

The recipient, a talented individual living in care, has long used discarded textiles and materials as a creative outlet, producing thoughtful, imaginative pieces of artwork. While artistic expression is a vital part of this individuals routine and supports mental health and emotional wellbeing, accessing materials had become increasingly difficult and expensive.

Recognising the need, a representative from Adult Social Care in Islington reached out to the Fashion Technology Academy to request any available fabric scraps that could be repurposed. FTA welcomed the request as part of its ongoing mission to reduce textile waste and make fashion and creativity more inclusive.

On 2nd October, fabric offcuts were collected from FTA and are now in the hands of the resident, providing a fresh supply of materials for new creative projects.

“We are incredibly grateful for this donation,” said a representative from the care service. “Not only does it support this resident’s artistic practice, but it also contributes positively to mental wellbeing. Having access to materials again has brought a renewed sense of purpose and joy.”

This initiative reflects Fashion-Enter Ltd’s broader ethos: to empower individuals through ethical fashion, education, and sustainability. By diverting offcuts from landfill and placing them into the hands of those who can use them meaningfully, FEL / FTA supports both environmental responsibility and social impact.
