26 Mar Expert Advice: From Design to Production – Getting It Right First Time

On Wednesday 26th March, Fashion-Enter Ltd invited FC Designer Workspace residents and students, along with external start-ups and brands to its free, monthly masterclass. Held via Zoom, these 1-hour sessions are led by industry experts and this session In particular was hosted by FEL CEO Jenny Holloway.

What makes Fashion-Enter Ltd unique is our working knowledge of getting a design off the page, into production and ultimately, worn by a happy customer. Under the Fashion-Enter Ltd umbrella is a factory, repair centre, academies, workspace and shop. We understand the intricacies of working with a manufacturer and the many areas that entails.

Joined by 17 individuals, Jenny explained that with over 135 touch-points in garment development, understanding the journey from design to production is essential for any brand, startup or established. She talked about how to avoid costly mistakes, reduce sampling time, and achieve high-quality results.

This session was well-received with lots of interaction and questions from participants throughout, including questions on cost estimates, RTW documentation, commercial acceptance and gold seals. Participants expressed their gratitude for Jenny’s time and clear explanation and could also gain copies of the presentation to review in their own time.

Next month we will be talking Design, Drape, Patterns & Paris with Designer & Tutor John Herrera. He has just shown his eponymous label on the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week, so this will be the perfect masterclass for aspiring designers.
