Monthly Upcycling Drop In Sessions

Thanks to Islington Council from Tuesday 12th September the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road will be hosting free, drop-in, upcycling and repair sessions on a monthly basis. The start of these sessions coincide with Secondhand September and provide a brilliant proactive way to reuse existing clothing and textiles.

Following an hour-long Teams meeting with Pawel Ryczan from Islington Council on 9th August, FEL CEO Jenny Holloway, Development Coordinator, Gee Fletcher and Head of Creative Beth Davy-Day, agreed on monthly upcycling drop-in sessions for local residents at the Fonthill shop.

With the world of fashion changing and waking up to environmental impact, along with the social need for community members to meet and get creative, this will provide a great programme for residents located in the borough.

In the meeting ideas were discussed for a potential Swap Shop, where people can swap their old unused items with new pre-loved items from others. More on this in due course.

If you would like to attend the September upcycling drop-in all are welcome between 9am – 5pm to try out upcycling ideas with advice and support from our friendly team. The shop is equipped with machines, threads and trims, so dig out those unworn items and come and join us!

Islington Upcycling Drop-In Tuesday 12th September at FC Designer Collective, 113 – 115 Fonthill Road, London N4 close to Finsbury Park tube station.
