Speaking Sustainability at Future Fabrics Expo 2023

The Future Fabrics Expo is the largest dedicated showcase for sourcing certified, sustainable material solutions the UK. Any designer or fashion brand start-up needs to address sustainability at every stage of their design process and the choice of fabric is imperative to nurture a fully sustainable business.

On 28th June, Fashion-Enter Ltd’s CEO Jenny Holloway was thrilled to be invited to speak at the Expo. Jenny joined Cyndi Rhoades (Circle 8 & Worn Again Technologies), Graham Clark (British Wool), Ifeanyi Okuwadi (Designer) for a live panel discussion.

The Expo was held at Magazine London in North Greenwich and the panel discussion ‘Revival of the UK Textile supply chain: through the Sustainability lens.’ was moderated by Malini Mehra (GLOBE International).

The seminar painted a positive, yet realistic light on creating a sustainable textile supply chain, with speakers, such as Cyndi Rhoades, focusing on the first steps to achieve a viable working system in the UK.

Jenny Holloway talked about the future of the textile supply chain from a unique perspective as a manufacturer and fashion production skills educator. She talked about the effectiveness of local, micro factories that can allow small orders of fabric to be printed, constructed and shipped from one location, instead of 100’s of meters being shipped and worked on around the globe.

Jenny also talked about the need for industrial eco systems and cross industry plants to reach the level of effectiveness that the renewable energy industry has. She ended the discussion with a positive line, talking about the future of the UK supply chain saying; “There is so much skill and opportunity in the UK along with an opportunity to create in-demand jobs.”

This was the final guest speaker event attended by CEO Jenny Holloway for the month of June that has been allowed to be part of the SVM by Islington Council. All of the events have included vital information for the FCDW designers that has the latest information and data on sustainable and ethical fashion. With this event eco fabrics and the future of fashion within a lowered carbon emission space was fully discussed and disseminated.
