Fashion Marketing and Journalism Student Reports on the FCDW

This week (17th May) the FC Designer Workspace welcomed Amalie Meland, a second-year Fashion Marketing and Journalism student at London Metropolitan University.

Amalie had read about the affordable studios, the various courses and upcycling workshops that the FC Designer Workspace offers and was keen to visit and compile an article about the initiative.

Amalie commented: “I found my visit to be very educational. I am writing a story on why making your own clothes and recycling old ones is the new way to go. I’m also writing on how you can save money and save the environment, this concept is getting more popular in the younger generations.

“My aim of the article is to show the people of Islington that there is a space where you can learn new stitching skills and have the support to upcycle garments as most people do not know where to start and where to get help.”

Gee, Development coordinator at FEL added: “It was lovely to meet Amalie, it is always great to have the chance to spread awareness around the courses we offer and the workshops we run. We are really keen to promote these lifelong skills that will in turn keep clothing in circulation for longer and reduce landfill.”
