Make UK Q1 Labour Market and Skills Policy Committee 20th February 2023

Fashion-Enter Ltd is a member of the Make UK Labour and Skills committee that meets once a month online or at the offices at St James London. To be able to provide the best possible advice to our tenants and learners it’s important that we keep constantly updated with latest intel and try to affect government policy as much as possible. The 3-hour meeting was an excellent update on the current status of the industry and the summary really was mixed.

Luxury end manufacturers continue to do well and manufacturers that are offering quick turnaround on fast repeats also have a market that’s buoyant, however the mid-markets are struggling and continue to struggle very similarly to the hospitality sector. In this sector eating on the go where purchases are impulse driven is strong as is luxury dining whereby it’s a special occasion, however the mid market customers are staying in and eating at home.

The outlook for the sector is that pre-Easter Sales are expected to show an increase and especially if the weather is mild and even sunny. However the weather forecast for end February is not good! Snow is expected which will further deplete sales.

The following core slides have been taken from the presentation to advise the FC Designer Workspace tenants and support the tutors with the latest information for their students.
