28 Oct FCDW Opens Its Doors to Afghan Refugees
We are looking forward to welcoming two Afghan refugees Mansor and Emran to the FC Designer Workspace in December following letters of support written by Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) to the Home Office in conjunction with the refugee centre SDCAS.
In June 2022 FEL worked closely with Lucy Parker to support the Afghan family that fled the fighting earlier in the year. It was clear that both Mansor and Emran were very experienced in stitching and were introduced to Jenni Sutton, then FEL Development Director and Jenny Holloway CEO.

Jenny Holloway commented: “The Level 1 course was incredibly easy for both the learners but it was important for their literacy and numeracy skills to complete and engage on the Level 1 course. We wanted them to progress on to the Level 2 course as quickly as possible but were surprised that the entire family was moved to Manchester despite us confirming that we would be happy to employ both brothers as they had proficient skills.”

Since July 2022 until October 2022 FEL has campaigned to have the family transferred back to London so they can continue their studies and then progress to full-time employment with the FEL factory in Haringey.
A sincere thank you to Lucy Parker Advice Worker at SDCAS. Common sense has eventually prevailed. There will be further updates in December when the brothers return to London.
