03 Oct Sustainability is Key to Design at the FCDW
On Friday 30th September Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) was invited to talk at the Great Big Green Week event organised by Frame Perfect on behalf of 4U2, Veolia and the Bridge.

The event was targeting the importance of sustainability in all areas of work and Jenny Holloway CEO was invited to talk through how fashion can be sustainable today.

FEL presented an in-depth powerpoint regarding current sharp practices within the industry. Jenny talked about how these unethical practices can be identified by audit control, how to change production to micro factories and one-piece-flow, along with the use of new digital technologies for efficient and sustainable production.
The event commenced at 4pm and finished at 10pm with a catwalk exhibition. The powerpoint was then forwarded and sent on to all the designers at the FC Designer Workspace resulting in much needed discussions regarding the importance of ethical printing such as the Kornit Presto and Atlas machine, Zund cutting and the use of Optitex for 3D fitting to prevent endless samples being made.

One such person in the audience was Gosia who is a local resident to Islington. On Saturday 1st October she met with Jenny Holloway at the FC Designer Workspace shop to review the clothes and discuss the importance of ethically made fashion. Showcased on Twitter Jenny was pleased to support Gosia on her quest to supply and style local events using the products from the designers in the shop.
Jenny commented: “So much can be achieved within the local circular economy here in Islington. It was a great positive event last night and a real delight to see Gosia at the shop too.”
