05 Sep Islington Residents Learn How to Make Their Own Clothes in Just 4 Days!
As part of the affordable workspace strategy Fashion-Enter Ltd has been conducting out reach to the local residents by offering a four-day taster course in stitching.
The aim was to encourage that community spirit within the borough and having been on the site at Durham Road for a year Fashion-Enter Ltd has an understanding of the local residents and their needs.
This short course was to open the doors to allow an insight into what can be achieved and with stitching skills leading on to qualification attainment and then progress on to deeper skills so they can be industry ready.
The four-day course was for complete beginners and they learnt how to thread industrial machines, wind the bobbin, how to handle the machines with a variety of fabrics, use the machines with some competency and then cut out and make their own garments! Some of the garments as you can see by the images were absolutely amazing!

Feedback included:
“The course exceeded my expectations! The premises were lovely to work in and the instructors were extremely welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating. Ana in particular, went out of her way to make sure each student got what they wanted out of the course and had endless patience! I’ll definitely be back!”
“I learnt a lot, so many skills in such a short amount of time. I learnt how to make garments and upcycle.”
“This course was very helpful and informative. I now feel a bit more comfortable creating garments.”
New taster course dates will be announced in due course.
