New Community Focus Events at the FC Designer Collective Shop from May Onwards

We are delighted to confirm that Fashion-Enter Ltd is working with Islington Council to find local, creative individuals to support on community workshops to be held at the FC Designer Collective shop.

Andrew Paschalis – Local Economy Officer from Islington Council, is working with Fashion-Enter Ltd Founder, Jenny Holloway, to find creatives in the area that have the following hand crafting skills:

  • Knitting
  • Crochet
  • Hand embellishment
  • Hand embroidery
  • Bag making
  • Soft toy making

Jenny said: “It is well documented how creative the Islington borough is. The Imagine Islington policy is alive with creative concepts and initiatives that will make the borough flourish as a centre of excellence for creatives. We absolutely welcome the engagement with the Council to find local residents that can support on workshops at our shop at 113-115 Fonthill Road. Not only is this the right time to harness these skills for designers, but it’s also bringing a sense of community back to Islington with the shop being a focal point of “togetherness”.

The council’s policy stipulates:

Cultural opportunities help people of all backgrounds to thrive. The lives of Islington residents of all ages are enriched every day by a wide variety of inspiring experiences reflecting who they are, where they come from and who they could become.

Driving all of this is our mission to create a more equal borough through the Islington Together 2030 Plan, a borough where everyone who lives here is able to benefit from the joy of creativity.

We define culture as any activity – for example, music, sports, cooking and gardening – that enables people to connect creatively with the world around them or gives them a sense of belonging. We each grow up with a range of cultural traditions which add to the diversity of Islington. When we create together, we make links which bridge generations and communities.
